Remembering Jim: 20 Years Later – Muppet Fans Who Grew Up

Remembering Jim: 20 Years Later « ToughPigs – Muppet Fans Who Grew Up.

There are a lot of bad memories from my childhood – some involving calling 911 and some involving ambulances. But watching The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, and the movies and toys I had from them are the good memories.

A few other avid Muppet fans wrote and drew pieces remembering Jim. This drawing is from my friend David who, in my mind, should be working professionally as an illustrator. He and I have a huge adoration and admiration for Henson. We both bounce up and down like happy kids when we find something cool like a Kermit belt buckle.

Years ago David, poeks, and myself went to see Labyrinth and Dark Crystal in the theater – it was awesome.

We also once met Jane Henson at a talk at the Museum of Television and Radio – talk about the perfect grandmother.

So, yeah, I’m a day late… and when I watch The Muppet Movie or any other Henson film I sometimes want to cry bc I miss this stuff – this level of imagination and storytelling – this type of happiness and education mixed with innocence and vaudville – it’s not the same now. It won’t be – there isn’t another Jim Henson. Plain and simple.
