Martha Stewart Weddings features first same sex couple

KM @ 1:36 PM

I am not one to read wedding magazines but this is important: Jeremy Hooper and Andrew Schulman are the first gay couple to be featured in the magazine’s Winter issue.

I wonder what kind of shitstorm the editors of the magazine will be dealing with… but it’s worth it!

Writes Jeremy: “The best part: They make no mention of our wedding being same-sex, or even of the milestone (which I do know was an active choice on their part, as part of their 15th anniv). We are simply included with two other opposite-gender couples, as part of the mix. As it should be.”

You can read his blog entry of it here

JUST DANCE

KM @ 1:18 AM

Today I bought Just Dance – for the wii for Jen – as her Christmas present. Seeing as she won’t be here for Christmas (she’s flying home on Dec. 24 to NJ) we opened it tonight and played it for a while. Basically, it’s along the same lines as any of the other music games where you either stomp on a color or smack a color with your fat fingers on a plastic guitar… however, the kicker is you have to move your arms to mimic the dancer on the screen to gain points… meaning, you just end up flailing to try and get points.

This is what you see…

This is what you end up doing…

I think one of us is going to get hurt… it’ll probably be me.

“In the early ’70s, 6.5 ouncers were popular. Today it’s 20 ounces, or more (Super Big Gulp = 44 oz = 700 calories!) You’d have to work in the garden for 35 minutes to burn the extra 165 calories.” — Regarding soda bottles

This is why I’m fat.

some more random pics

Since moving to PDX, Jen and I have been trying to find things that are cheap or free to do. Last week we checked out some art galleries on the NW side of town. It was “First Thursday” – a monthly thing where galleries open their doors in the evening to showcase some artists which seem to be local or regional.

I liked this painting in particular, not so much for the colors chosen but the way it was done – crooked lines, distorted imagery, and angular features – to really make you feel as if you’re in another dimension or have fallen down the rabbit hole.

We also saw a few other artists and I thought it was great – even if some of the things shown were “underwhelming” overall – looking at the styles, the expression behind the colors chosen, layout, and painting itself was very cool and contrasting from artist to artist.  More so the “feel” of the artwork than the actual technicalities of it — that’s also how I approach poetry – what imagery does it evoke? As opposed to whether it stayed in a certain meter…
